Bachelor Level 2 SWS / 3 ECTS
Lecturer: Qendresa Ajeti
AR20036
The architectural heritage of former Yugoslavia represents an exceptional and eclectic work of architecture that is mostly unknown to the international audience. The cities and buildings of the period of Socialism-Modernism represent an enormous urban, architectural and social history layer. It is a link between ideology and the built environment and very interesting to explore how it managed to produce and implement a great variety of architectural experiments.
The seminar aims at gaining an understanding of the complex architectural heritage of Former Yugoslavia that was built after WWII till its dissolve in 1992, by examining various perspectives and typologies of architectural production. The course will work as a knowledge base and discussion ground for this specific architectural heritage in the in-between land.
