TEACHING
At the Chair of Art in Architecture students at BA and MA level can explore the intersections of art and architecture through experimental and interdisciplinary methodologies.
The Chair has a long standing tradition at TUM of positioning artistic strategies centrally in the study of architecture, and has grown to include a focus on new media, VR/AR/XR and exploration in use of Artificial Intelligence in creative practice.
Our teaching focuses on artistic exploration through embodiment as a site of entanglement, where human and more-than-human agencies co-shape spatial experiences. We explore how bodies—both human and non-human—are not isolated entities but exist in relational networks of material, sensory, and technological exchanges. Through artistic and architectural practices, we critically engage with the ways in which space is co-constituted by multispecies interactions, environmental forces, and hybrid forms of intelligence. By embracing situated knowledge and speculative methodologies, we invite students to rethink conventional narratives of architecture, considering it as a porous and evolving field shaped by interdependent life-worlds.
