Master
At MA level the Chair of Art in Architecture have several elective art courses, the majority of which are on offer during the winter semester every year. Lectures and workshops with guests from diverse fields of art, science, and technology are integral to the Art in Architecture program at TUM, enriching all BA and MA courses with interdisciplinary perspectives.
Some of the elective courses offered at MA level are:
COLOUR THEORY which teaches the principles of the interaction of physical, physiological, and psychological aspects of colour vision, as well as basic painting technique.
The ARTISTIC PROJECT where students further explore their artistic questions and strategies, developed during the BA level Artistic Methods course in the 4th semester (or equivalent elsewhere), refining concepts and methods for making artwork in a variety of mediums. The artwork-making process is always rooted in individual inquiry and research, encouraging students to continually refine their ability to ask deeper questions—both of themselves and the world—through artistic exploration. Regular group critiques help to clarify their artistic approach.
The INTERDISCIPLINARY PROJECT which fosters independent artistic exploration within architecture and design, guiding students in developing research methods, creating full-scale implementations, and critically reflecting on their work in an interdisciplinary context.
