[SUP]PORT
In summer semester 2023 the Chair of Architectural Design and Participation focused on the port of Abomey-Calavi, Benin, the main connection point between the lake village of Ganvié and the main land.
Each group developed a [SUP]PORT: a new infrastructure for the distribution of goods such as building materials, food and products to and from Ganvié. At the same time a structure that works as gathering place for the community and offers services for visitors who would like to explore Ganvié.
Projects of the Chair of Architectural Design and Participation develop a sensibility to a contextual factor from which invention can arise. Conceptual thinking combines with a hands on approach for site specific solutions.
