From December 17, 2024, to January 12, 2025, the traveling exhibition WATER FUTURES will take place in the Pavillon 333 in Munich. From June 6, 2025, to August 10, 2025, WATER FUTURES will be exhibited in the ZAZ Bellerive in Zurich.
WATER FUTURES is a joint exhibition by the Chair of Architectural Design and Participation (Prof. Kéré, Technical University of Munich) and the Chair of Theory of Urbanization and Urban Environments (Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio). The exhibition is curated by Alberto Pottenghi, Sascha Roesler, Alida von Boch-Galhau and Lydia Xynogala.
WATER FUTURES explores water as both a resource and a force shaping urban and architectural imagination. The exhibition addresses urgent water crises - scarcity, contamination, privatization - and highlights its role in fostering resilience, health, and community. It showcases student work from the two joint universities.
The Chair of Architectural Design and Participation presents student projects from the design briefs COLLECTRA[SH], FOODTOPIA, [SUP]PORT, and WATER EVER. The work that was collected over the past six semesters at the Chair of Architectural Design and Participation at the Department of Architecture (TUM) addresses water challenges through site-specific, experimental designs.
The Chair of Theory of Urbanization and Urban Environments (Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio) showcases work from a seminar that examined rising sea levels' effects on coastal cities, combining scientific and architectural insights to propose resilient global urban strategies.
The integrated exhibition demonstrates how interdisciplinary collaboration can address climate challenges, emphasizing architecture’s potential to shape water-affected landscapes with resilience and innovation.
