Gustav Düsing is an architect and researcher with a constant interest in the relationship between people and their immediate climatic situation. The goal of his research by design is to find new modes of habitation as an alternative to over-engineered building envelopes and an increasing disconnection between indoor and outdoor spaces. Many of his projects challenge western habits of consumption and comfort while attempting to perpetuate the achievements of modernity.
Gustav Düsing studied architecture at the University of Stuttgart and at the Architectural Association in London and is a registered architect in Berlin. His work has been awarded the 2023 German Architecture Prize, the 2020 Rome Prize for Architecture, and in 20/21 Gustav Düsing was Artist in Residence at the German Academy in Rome, Villa Massimo. Since 2015 he has been teaching at various universities, including TU Braunschweig, UDK Berlin and in 2021 he was appointed Visiting Professor at Roma Tre University. In 2022 Gustav Düsing was co-lecturer of a design studio at Cornell University AAP.
MONTAGSREIHE is a series of lectures at the Department of Architecture. Thematically, it is mostly focused on young offices that can give an insight into the beginnings of their practice in addition to their work.
