Invitation to the lecture by IMS Studio.
Ina-Maria Schmidbauer studied architecture at the University of Applied Sciences in Munich and at the Berlin Weißensee Academy of Art in Berlin. She worked in offices in Basel (Herzog & de Meuron) and Munich (Fink + Jocher) and finally founded Palais Mai in May 2005 together with Peter Scheller and Patrick von Ridder. The office grew steadily, won competitions, built and won prizes. In order not to settle too much into the office routine, she began to teach, gave lectures and was a member on competition juries. She always refused a rigid definition of disciplinary boundaries and kept on designing and realising projects for and with designers and artists.
In 2020, Ina-Maria Schmidbauer left Palais Mai to her two former partners to seek and find new opportunities. And not in rhetoric only, but in reality. In 2021 she launched IMS Studio. A studio that develops in processes, with a focus on the least possible separation of doing, thinking, discipline(s), theory and practice.
MONTAGSREIHE is a series of lectures at the Department of Architecture. Thematically, it is mostly focused on young offices that can give an insight into the beginnings of their practice in addition to their work. The series is intended as an enriching contribution to the Munich architectural discourse between architects, students and architecture enthusiasts.
