Professorship of Digital Fabrication
At the intersection of computational design and digital fabrication, we focus on collaborative fabrication processes, on-site robotics, and fabrication-aware design. We aim to enhance the synergy between architecture, robotics, and fabrication while making technological approaches more accessible. We achieve this by developing interdisciplinary teaching methods and open-source computational design tools. Our design-based research methodology promotes interdisciplinary thinking and cultivates essential skills in computational design. We are particularly interested in leveraging augmented reality technologies and collaborative robots to explore the potential of human-robot teams in architecture and construction.
The research group, led by Prof. Dr. Kathrin Dörfler, is based at the Department of Architecture
at the TUM School of Engineering and Design.
