Trees are more than static elements of urban landscapes. They provide shade, regulate temperatures, and improve the city’s microclimate—yet they themselves are increasingly threatened by climate change, drought, and environmental shifts. The exhibition illustrates how architecture can learn from trees. Rather than designing static structures, it highlights a new approach—"building on trees"—where buildings grow, change, and adapt over time. Featuring international projects from diverse cultural and climatic contexts, the exhibition showcases visionary architectural concepts, scientific experiments, and real-world projects, including research by the Baubotanik team at TUM.
Sustainable architecture does not emerge in isolation. It requires collaboration between science, art, indigenous knowledge, and cutting-edge technologies. "Trees, Time, Architecture!" underscores that the future of architecture lies in interdisciplinary cooperation.
