The Department of Architecture at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) joins the Dresden Declaration on a Bauwende, which was adopted by the Deans' and Department Heads' Conference for Architecture, Spatial Planning and Landscape Architecture in the Federal Republic of Germany (DARL) in April 2024.

We fully endorse the 10 demands underlying the Architects 4 Future declaration as essential components of a climate- and socially just development.

With the aim of making the construction sector more sustainable and socially equitable, the declaration calls for an adaptation of curricula in the fields of architecture, urban and spatial planning, and landscape architecture. TUM supports this initiative and will integrate these relevant contents into its programs to best prepare future experts for the challenges posed by the climate crisis. The Bauwende begins in education.

DARL represents German universities and academies offering programs in architecture, urban and spatial planning, and landscape architecture. Its goal is to actively shape education and research in these fields and effectively advocate for them to policy makers and the public. Given the significant environmental impacts of the construction industry in Germany, DARL emphasizes the pivotal role of these programs in addressing the climate crisis and social injustices.
