Karen Lee Bar-Sinai served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Professorship of Urban Design from 2022 to 2024. During her tenure as a Marie Curie Fellow at the TUM School of Engineering and Design (ED) Department of Architecture, she deepened her research into the interplay between matter, environment, and technology. She explores how tools can be used to rethink materials, design, construction, and environmental performance on various levels.
In her doctoral thesis at the Technion Israel Institute of Technology, she developed methods for reusing materials such as desert sand, transforming them into architectural and landscape structures using robotic technology.
At the Harvard Graduate School of Design, Karen Lee Bar-Sinai will continue her research as an Assistant Professor, focusing particularly on responsible material practices, bio-based materials, hybrid fabrication techniques, and the future role of robotic technology in construction and environmental tasks.
