The profile of the Department with its almost 200 scientists at 28 professorships covers an exceptionally broad spectrum of topics. Our tuition is research oriented and the core practice is architectural design, which serves as a common basis for all teaching and research activities. more
Research Topics
The Department of Architecture lists a broad variety of ongoing research and development projects. We inquire the contemporary challenges of globalization and individualism, cultural transformation as well as climate change. Furthermore, “Research by Design” is being developed as a special expertise. more
Architekturmuseum der TUM
Due to its unique status as Germany's only university institution with archives and exhibition rooms, the Architekturmuseum der TUM unites collections, tuition and research. Since 2002 rotating exhibitions are shown in the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich’s Kunstareal. more

Partner Univerisities
The department offers a year abroad as an integrated part of our education. This approach is unique among architecture schools in Europe. During the last years we have expanded our partnerships with foreign universities to currently 90 universities in 39 countries across the globe. more
