Seminar EDUwood
Seminar MA, Forschungsfragen im Holzbau - EDUwood, summer term 2023
In connection with the research project EDUwood, an extensive project analysis of best practice projects in university construction will be conducted as part of the elective. The goal is to identify construction technics for different space typologies. The analysis will include different space typologies such as office, seminar, laboratory, lecture hall, and technical center. Relevant information will be obtained from clients, architects, structural and fire protection planners, building physicists and executing companies, and the data obtained will be entered into a cross-project matrix to enable comparability of the constructions. Particular attention is paid to the component structures in order to identify the potential for climate-friendly construction and to provide examples as best-practice projects for the above-mentioned room typologies.
Fundamental questions in timber construction will be discussed together and examined and evaluated with regard to different parameters. In a second step, the research content developed will be applied in the participants' own construction practice. The climate protection potential is the focus of the consideration.
Finally, the results are summarized and presented on a poster. Through the seminar work, students will participate in the EDUwood research project by means of analyses and research, and thereby gain an understanding of climate-friendly construction methods and possible construction types for timber construction in university buildings.
