Teaching
The understanding of design and construction as a unit forms the starting point for teaching at the Chair of Architecture and Timber Construction. The basis for working as an architect is the knowledge of the complex overall building system and the resulting ability to realise an architectural idea. A particular focus is on conveying the potential of bio-based building materials and the application possibilities of modern timber construction methods.
It is important to us that students recognise the connections between context, design and construction in architecture and learn to classify their work in the context of the climate crisis. Only in this way can they develop an independent attitude and contribute to the change in the construction industry towards resource efficiency with high architectural and architectural-cultural qualities. In addition to open discourse and freedom of thought, students need a reliable professional foundation for this. We impart these in lectures, seminars and design exercises.
