Entrepreneurial Product Design
In this introductory seminar on Entrepreneurial Product Design, you will get to know the entire process of Integrated Product Design – from research and first ideas to visualization and final prototype. You will design and develop your own home accessory, from sketch to finish. As a result, after this course, you will have designed and produced an actual product in a small batch (10 pieces). We will cover topics such as ideation techniques, form development, Gestalt principles, visualization and prototyping, selection of appropriate materials, potential fabrication, serial production, cost calculation, business model generation, and intellectual property rights. Given constraints will keep the object at a low complexity and within your capabilities. Interdisciplinary teamwork (3 people) is mandatory. We collaborate with the TUM MakerSpace, where you will receive introductory training to machinery usage.
The seminar language is English. Master students from the following programs are welcome: Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Human Factors Engineering, Mechatronics and Robotics, Management, and Management and Technology.
