2 Zonen Komfort-Zug
The "2-Zone Comfort Train" project questions the central role of thermal comfort in promoting passenger satisfaction on Deutsche Bahn regional trains. Thermal comfort significantly influences the passenger experience and is a key factor in encouraging more people to use public transportation—a shift that contributes to reducing CO₂ emissions in the transportation sector. Existing standards for indoor climate are often based on limited empirical data and may not sufficiently consider the diverse needs of passengers. The goal of this project is to close this gap by examining how thermal comfort changes in different areas and levels of regional trains, taking into account spatial and temporal factors. The insights gained aim to develop passenger-oriented climate control solutions that enhance the attractiveness and sustainability of public transport systems.
