bridge it!
Project III and One-Semester Master Project, Summer Semester 2006
Task
The design focuses on the space under and around the Southeast Tangent in Vienna, in Erdberger Mais. The Tangent is an urban highway (A 23) that consolidates both European long-distance traffic and regional traffic. It is one of the busiest roads in Europe, and the daily morning and evening traffic jams have become a ritual that can be followed with live cams on the internet. The highway intersects the city of Vienna relatively close to the center and is built as a viaduct over long stretches. Design solutions for this development area are to be developed for the central section, which cuts through one of the most important urban development areas in Vienna. The designs were mostly created in mixed teams of landscape architecture and architecture students from the Technical University of Munich. We would like to express our gratitude for the support of the Magistrat der Stadt Wien, MA 21A, and MA29.
