Industry & Nature
Sustainable Development of Post-Industrial Landscapes from an International Perspective
The international summer school ‘Industry and Nature’ organised by the Chair of Landscape Architecture and Transformation took place in September 2024. The exhibition work was presented at the end of the two-week programme on Friday 27 September 2024.
The event was developed in international cooperation with Associate Professor Fang Wei and Associate Professor Qingwei Cui from Beijing Forestry University (BFU) and Steffen Nijhuis from Delft University of Technology. Together with 15 students from the BFU and 15 students from the Technical University of Munich, they explored and discussed pioneering transformation projects during the excursion
to the Ruhr region. In the subsequent workshop, the students developed a short-term design on the topic of ‚transformation‘.
The basic idea was to encourage them to become more aware of their surroundings, from the micro to the urban scale, and to understand the logic behind the development of former industrial landscapes in the process of transformation.
Workshop task 1 “Story telling and narration”
