Anja Runkel studied architecture at the HTWK Leipzig. After graduating, she was employed as an architect first in Leipzig and later as a freelancer in the Ruhr-Area. Since 2007 she has been a certified planner for building biology (VDB), worked at Sachverständigenbüro Richardson in Witten/Ruhr in the field of chemical and microbiological indoor pollutants and at SakostaCAU GmbH Munich in the field of building pollutants, construction site access, building dismantling and sustainable refurbishment of existing buildings.
Since 2019 she has been working as research associate at the Professorship of Recent Building Heritage and Conservation. In addition to her work at TUM, she works as an independent expert for building pollutants, moisture, and mold damage.
