Topic: The Munich Metropolitan Region is one of the most dynamic areas in Germany with strong and sustained growth in jobs and population. Functional interrelationships between companies and private households extend far beyond the boundaries of municipalities, districts and planning regions. The topics of economic development and mobility traditionally have their place on the agenda of German metropolitan regions. In the Munich Metropolitan Region the growing perception is that in this developing area the current challenges of housing can only be solved together. Solutions to the acute shortage of living space, especially in the Munich Metropolitan Region, can only be developed in the greater spatial encompassing of the Metropolitan Region. In order to achieve a future-proof spatial structure, offering for living, working and mobility must be closely coordinated.
Brief description: The study examines the dynamics and interdependence of decisions related to residential location, workplace and mobility for private households in the Munich Metropolitan Region. The study records the spatial change processes in the organisation of living, working and mobility for selected sub-regions and economic sectors of the Munich Metropolitan Region.
