The Chair of Urban Development has published a new Working Paper, authored by student Xueying Huang. The paper with the title "What Makes Munich’s Housing Shortage - A District-Level Analysis of Housing Supply Responsiveness and Urban Planning Metrics" analyses the recent escalation in Munich’s housing demand against the backdrop of an accompanying supply deficit, employing the concept of price elasticity of housing
supply as a metric for gauging supply responsiveness to the changing demand and deploying multivariate regression analysis to dissect the correlation with an array of urban planning metrics, including the social housing ratio and the density parameters of residential spaces.
The paper is the revised result of a Bachelor thesis at the chair, supervised by Prof. Dr. Thierstein and Dr.-ing. Fabian Wenner. It can be accessed here.
