Chair of Conservation-Restoration, Art Technology and Conservation Science
The Chair of Conservation-Restoration, Art Technology and Conservation Science at the Technical University of Munich combines the areas Conservation-Restoration, Art Technology, Art History, Conservation Science and Cultural Heritage Preservation in teaching and research.
In cooperation with the Institute of Book and Manuscript Conservation of the Bavarian State Library (Bayerische Staatsbibliothek), the Chair works with numerous other state institutions such as the Bavarian State Collection of Paintings (Doerner Institute), the Bavarian State Conservation Office (Bayerisches Landesamt für Denkmalpflege) and the Bavarian National Museum (Bayerisches Nationalmuseum), in whose studio building the Chair is integrated.
Close cooperation also exists with the Bavarian Administration of State-owned Palaces, Gardens and Lakes (Bayerische Verwaltung der staatlichen Schlösser, Gärten und Seen), the Deutsches Museum and the State Archaeological Collection (Archäologische Staatssammlung) as well as the Municipal Museum Munich (Stadtmuseum München) and many other collections and institutions in Bavaria and numerous other countries.
Emphases of the Chair are art technological research, restoration history and the optimization and development of conservation and restoration methods.
