The Vector-based Graphic Statics (VGS) tool is a direct extension of traditional 2D graphic statics to the third dimension. VGS introduces a method for constructing a vector-based 3D force diagram for any 3D shape diagram of a spatial network in static equilibrium. By establishing a mutual dependency between shape and force diagrams, VGS allows the user to modify one of the two diagrams and directly evaluate the resulting transformation of the other diagram. This feature enables a fast and interactive exploration of possible equilibrium solutions in the early design phase.
Open-source Plug-In
The Plug-In ist available on GitHub (for Windows and MacOS) and can be implemented in McNeel Rhinoceros and Grasshopper.
