Uta Graff studierte Architektur an der TU Braunschweig und der ETH Zürich. Nach dem Studium war sie zunächst bei Peter Zumthor in der Schweiz und bei gmp Architekten von Gerkan Marg und Partner in Berlin tätig, ab 2007 als freischaffende Architektin. Uta Graff war wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin im Studiengang Architektur der Universität der Künste Berlin, von 2003–2006 bei Prof. Alfred Grazioli, Fachgebiet Entwerfen und Städtebau und von 2006–2009 bei Prof. Adolf Krischanitz, Fachgebiet Stadterneuerung und Entwerfen. Sie hatte verschiedene Lehraufträge im Studiengang Architektur der UdK und war 2009 Gastprofessorin an der CDK im Chinesisch-Deutschen Masterstudiengang der China Academy of Art in Hangzhou, China. Im Zusammenhang mit dem Forschungsprojekt zur Auditiven Architektur hatte sie von 2009 – 2010 eine Gastprofessur am UNI.K, Studio für Klangkunst und Klangforschung der UdK Berlin. Von 2010-2012 war Uta Graff Professorin im Studiengang Architektur der Hochschule für angewandte Wissenschaften in Würzburg und leitet seit 2012 den Lehrstuhl für Entwerfen und Gestalten des Departments of Architecture der TUM School of Engineering and Design der Technischen Universität München. Uta Graff ist Mitglied im Deutschen Werkbund Bayern und sie ist Mentorin im Max-Weber-Programm der Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes und begleitet und berät Student*innen verschiedener Fachrichtungen: Max-Weber-Programm
Gemeinsam mit Prof. Dr. Ferdinand Ludwig und Katharina Voigt ist sie Initiatorin und Herausgeberin des wissenschaftlichen Journals »Dimensions. Journal of Architectural Knowledge«: Dimensions
Uta Graff studied architecture at the Technical University Braunschweig and at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology ETH in Zurich, Switzerland. After her graduation she worked as an architect at the office of Peter Zumthor in Switzerland and at gmp Architects, von Gerkan Marg and Partner and from 2007 as a freelance architect in Berlin. Uta Graff was teaching as a research associate at the University of Arts UdK in Berlin for Prof. Alfred Grazioli at the Department of Design and Urban Planning and for Prof. Adolf Krischanitz at the Department of Design and Urban Renewal. She had several teaching assignments at the UdK and worked as a Visiting Professor in the Chinese and German Master program at the CDK, the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou, China in 2009. Concerning with a research project concerning auditive architecture, she returned to work at the UdK as a Visiting Professor at the Studio for Sound Art and Sound Research. From 2010 to 2012 Uta Graff worked as a professor at the University of Applied Sciences in Würzburg. Since 2012 she holds the Chair of Architectural Design and Conception at the Department of Architecture at the TUM School of Engineering and Design at the Technical University of Munich. Uta Graff is a member of the Deutscher Werkbund Bayern and a mentor in the Max Weber Programme of the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes and accompanies and advises students from various disciplines: Max-Weber-Programme
