IPD Project: Interior Mindscapes
Interior Mindscapes: Neuroaesthetics for Task-Specific Interior Design
15 ECTS
In this exciting project, we delve into the cutting-edge realm of neuroaesthetic principles and their application in interior design. Leveraging groundbreaking neuroscience research, you will have the opportunity to craft a task-specific room, be it “a room for writing,” “a room for thinking,” or “a room for doing a tax return.”
Your design will encompass a holistic spatial concept that engages all senses: visual elements, tactile sensations, sounds, scents, and even taste. You will create a miniature room model (scale 1:10) complemented by an analogue moodboard, a detailed color scheme, an appropriate light, sound, scent, and taste concept, as well as a curated furniture list.
From these individual room designs, we will select three outstanding concepts to be constructed in full scale. This selection will be based on quality, suitability for the intended task, and feasibility. All students will be assigned to one of the three rooms to support its realization as a team. A small budget for equipping these three real-sized rooms will be provided by the chair and selected furniture will be loaned by our partner Muuto.
An integrated seminar will cover topics like design research, interior design, product design, and neuroaesthetics. Input sessions from industry experts will give you additional insights into the topic.
Participation in the Integrated Seminar is mandatory and limited to the project's participants only
