––– This Seminar will be held in English –––
Seminar open to Master Students

Methodical Development of Research Questions
In the IPD Research Seminar, you will learn the basics of scientific design research. We will cover topics such as how to identify a relevant topic and research question within the design field, how to conduct a literature review, qualitative, quantitative, and creative research methods, writing research papers, AI-supported research, and research ethics.
As the outcome of this seminar you will develop a topic for a potential Master thesis at the chair, or for a potential future PhD research in design-related fields.
Participants learn basic concepts and approaches in the field of design research. Students develop a research question, a research design including appropriate methods and learn the basic concepts of a scientific publication in the design field. Individual aspects are practiced and applied in weekly exercises. Interested students develop an exposé for their master thesis or for a study within a future PhD.
Topics that can be worked on as a master's thesis by the chair include:
- Creativity-supporting work environments (Creative Space)
- Workspaces for Wellbeing
- Working on the road and outdoors
- Biophilic Workspaces
- Creative Workspace Ergonomics
- Neuro-Architecture, Neuroaesthetics
- (Generative) AI in the context of design and creativity
