Curriculum Vitae
After completing her bachelor's degree in Architecture, Aycan Kizilkaya studied in the International Master of Interior Architectural Design Program (IMIAD) at Istanbul Technical University (ITU). During her master's degree, she focused on design critique, perception, and discourse with using human-centered design methodology. As part of the IMIAD exchange program, she studied at Hochschule für Technik Stuttgart, where she contributed to experiential events, exhibitions, and hands-on design workshops in Germany. In 2017, Aycan completed the ATHENS Program on "Modern Interior Architecture: Case Studies and Historiography" at Politecnico di Milano, Italy. Since then, she has been a research and teaching assistant in the ITU Faculty of Architecture, IMIAD Program. She has participated in various national and international symposiums, interdisciplinary research projects, and teaching design studios & workshops. In 2022, she was a visiting scholar at the Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz (FHNW), Institute of Interior Design and Scenography in Basel, Switzerland, with the Swiss Government Research Excellence Scholarship. While there, she participated in design courses on performance studies and engaged in creative performative experiments. As a PhD candidate, Aycan has researched and documented alternative performance spaces, comparing case studies, and recently she conducted a research project at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). Additionally, Aycan is a member of a professional theater group in Istanbul, where she engages in acting, stage design, poster & video design, storytelling, and playwriting.
